Dear friends,
Praha and I have decided to go ahead and offer a chant circle this shabbat since it has been a couple of months since we were able to offer one and we feel called to offer one at this time. We realize that many of you will be out of town or involved with supporting Ruth and Bill and family during shiva. Our intention is to dedicate our chanting to Ruth’s mom, and offer up the energy of the group to heal and comfort her soul. In addition, we’ll chant for peace in the Middle East at this fragile time. We’ll also enter into the spiritual challenge of the Torah portion of Balak, in Shefa Gold’s words,
“We are challenged to receive God’s voice in the sound of this world–in the voice of a friend, an animal, the wind, or the body that been carrying us so loyally all these years. …..Our practices for Balak are designed to expand our awareness of the body, to learn to hear its voice, and to receive its wisdom.”
